Currently, FlashZone provides Twitter, Facebook, or Google as social media logins. FlashZone is hosted on secure AWS servers. Learn more about your data and privacy with Amazon Web Services (AWS) here.  The FlashZone app utilizes the third party service Google Maps as one of the core parts of our location technology. Understand more about your data and privacy with Google/Google Maps here. When you sign up for the FlashZone app, and we collect your email address, we may send you important FlashZone emails at times. You allow us to gather data from third-party social media logins according to their privacy policies. Certain service providers or advertisers may use their own cookies or tracking technology which may collect information about you within the FlashZone service.

Data Sharing

In order for us to provide services to you there is certain information we need.

Account Profile Data

You need an account on the FlashZone app. This means that you need to sign up and create a profile in order to use and share content on FlashZone. Your profile can include personal identifiable information such as your Profile Photo, Name, Email, Hometown, Gender, Biography and website URL. You can choose to create a profile anonymously with an alias or nickname. However this does not assure anonymity. The display name and username you select are always publicly available. Your display name is the name you choose, but it may not be the assumed identity of another person, brand, business, organization, product institution, or other item legally protected, unless you provide the legal rights/license to use should an issue arise in a dispute.  Contact info@FlashZone.com for any inquiries.

Social Signup/Login

Upon signing up to FlashZone using the third party social logins such as Twitter, Facebook or Google, You’ll be routed to their proper authorization steps via in-app or website asking you to authorize the FlashZone app to use your account. You can review the various permissions you are granting to the FlashZone app.  You can choose to not use these options. The intent of these tools is to make the sign up process really easy for the user. Choices are given to choose and manage the account creation process and the data you confirm to create on the account.

Your Location data

FlashZone needs to know your location in order to function correctly.  We do not share your exact location. Posts/flashes contain the city or municipality from which a post originated and general zip code location may be inferred in other instances. For the InterestBuddy™ meeting-mode feature you may be invited to give your permission to show your exact location and distance to other users nearby. You choose whether or not to allow this and the limited duration of time you permit it, should you choose to do so.

FlashZone uses your IOS device’s location services to connect you to content and other users locally.  Including the tags, posts, photographs, videos, and other recordings/content types. Location data helps improve your experience and our services, including notifications, timestamps, location stamps, customer support, and more.

We offer location sharing while using the app. FlashZone does not function without location sharing on while using the app. If you do not want your general location known, which in FlashZone means your city or municipal location or your ZIP Code location, do not download FlashZone and do not use FlashZone app. Your exact location is not shown to other users unless you give explicit permission to do so.

You have 2 location settings to choose from:

– While using the app: We may collect location information when the app is visible on screen.

– Never: This option disables location services for FlashZone. You can still use the app but it will not function well or at all.

The option to agree to allow FlashZone to use your IOS devices location services is given at the beginning of the app.  You can choose to opt out if you wish by choosing the “Never” option on the location permission alert.

To manage location settings on your device:

  1. Open your device’s Settings
  2. Tap “Privacy,”  “Location Services”
  3. Tap “FlashZone”
  4. Select “While Using the App,” or “Never”

FlashZone shares only the minimal amount of location data that is necessary to function with Google Maps in order to provide an enhanced local user experience.  Read more about your privacy and data with your Google account here.
